چکیده:

Polymer nanocomposites are polymer matrix composites in which the fillers are less than 100 nm in at least one dimension. Recently, nanoparticle reinforced polymeric composites have generated considerable attentions due to their potential of producing superior physical, chemical, and mechanical properties incomposites structures. Alumina is an engineering material which is particularly important in various industries, which it’s interesting properties such as hardness and high stability, has led to used in the industry different parts. Alpha alumina is the most dens and stable of the alumina phase and it’s thermodynamic stability is caused to apply for utilizing in the high thermal applications more than other phases. In this study, mechanical properties of alumina / polymer – based nanocomposites will be evaluated which; polypropylene (PP), Polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA), Unsaturated polyester resin (UPR), vinyl-ester resin, epoxy and nanoalumina as the matrix and reinforcement forcomposite , respectively. Tensile strength, Young’s modulus, flexural and impact strength, tribological properties will be compared and evaluated for nanocomposites. In all samples, Weight percentage of nanoalumina is less than 10 percent , which considering polymeric matrix, optimal value of nanoalumina percent will be different in the composite samples.Nanoalumina has been used to both the modified and unmodified in nanocomposites. The surface modification organic nanoparticles such as alumina is gaining increasing attention in the field of polymer – based nanocomposites, since it is an effective way to improve the dispersibility of inorganic nanoparticles and the compatibility between the matrix and the filler, which are two crucial issues in the preparation of nanocomposites.
